Candidate Evaluation Project
Honors Government: You are a writer for a political magazine. Your editor has just given you an assignment to evaluate the candidates and write an article that will explain to readers which candidate they should vote for. Read all directions before you begin. Only periods 4 and 7 should use the Endorsement Article Rubric.
Government: You have been hired by your favorite candidate to create a campaign brochure. Using Microsoft Publisher, you will create a brochure that will persuade readers and voters to vote for the candidate you support. Periods 3, 5, and 6 should use the Candidate Evaluation Project Brochure Rubric.
Step One: What do you think? (Begin the Issues Packet)
Friday 1/27: You should have recieved the issues packet, ranked the issues in order of importance to you, and have chosen between 2 sides of each issue. If you haven't complete this, you are to do it as homework. (Do not use media center time)
Step Two: Research the candidates. (Finish the Issues Packet)
Go to the CNN Election Center Use the slide to research each candidate's stance on the issues. The website will address each candidate's stance on Abortion, Health Care, Economy, Foreign Policy, Same Sex Marriage, and Immigration. As you read about each candidate, complete the "Where do the candidates stand?" column in your organizer.
Go to VoteEasy and answer question one at a time, the same way you answered them on your issues packet. Record your results on the back of your Issues Packet.
Click on each candidate to double check your researched answers and the answers you didn't research.
Step Three: Learn about leadership skills and qualifications.
